OCTOBER 2017

The AAUW Cape May County Branch was in attendance at Voter Registration Day at Atlantic Cape Community College, Cape May Court House on September 12, 2017.  One student who met New Jersey eligibility requirements signed on for AAUW student e-mail and received an application for Voter Registration.

We added one additional AAUW student e-mail application which is a total of thirteen new subscribers.

Dr. Tammy DeFranco supplied our desk with information about job opportunities as New Jersey Poll Workers.  Written information was distributed to students who expressed an interest.

Our Sexual Assault Table will be on display throughout the month of October.

SEPTEMBER 2017

The Cape May County Branch of AAUW was in attendance at New Students’ Day on campus in Cape May Court House on August 8, 2017.  President Barbara Gaba spoke to students following an introduction by Dr. Tammy DeFranco.  Vice President Mitchell Levy spoke at length of the opportunities for assistance provided by his office and staff.  Several College/Campus organizations were represented and each table awarded gift-buckets/bags full of back-to-school items to students in a raffle after the initial program and introductions.

Marion Ingram, our outgoing College Connections adviser, was present as we signed on eleven girls for e-membership in AAUW. We expect to sign on more girls next month at Voter Registration Day (September 12th).

We were happy to learn that a woman, Maria Kellett, is the new Dean starting this Fall Semester of the Atlantic Cape Campus in Cape May Court House.  We welcome her to her new role and wish her luck. She will be an invaluable asset in our efforts to support girls and women in their pursuit of college level degrees.
